Password Keeper; A Great Way to Know All your Passwords

The one thing that has become a constant in everyone’s lives is passwords. Not just that, it’s more the fact that we have so many things (programs, accounts, devices, and whatnot) that require passwords. In writing this post I looked over the past few months to see if I’d posted anything on the variety of reasons that you should have complex passwords, and I haven’t, which seems odd. I’m certain I’ll post something in the future. In either case, I think that a major game changer for me has been a product I use called Password Keeper.

This is a secure product where you can keep all of your passwords. It requires you to enter a “master password” in order to access all your other passwords. It has the ability to organize different password by category (something that appeals to the information manager/organizer in me). I personally like this one, there are a verity of products like it but in case you’re wondering I have a few different reasons that I like Password Keeper specifically;

1) It’s cross-platform – One of the most important things that I look for in a program that I use regularly is its ability to act in a cross-platform manner. For those who don’t catch my meaning, to be “Cross-platform” means that you have to be able to work on both Windows, Mac and mobile devices seamlessly. Luckily for me, Keeper is no different. I am able to access it equally on my phone, the app on my computer, I even have the ability to log into the Keeper Server through the internet on a public computer and I would be able to access all my passwords just as easily. Word to the wise, I would not recommend accessing your password keeper through a public computer. Not because it’s not a secure system, but if you forget to log out, then you may not be able to stop the computer from remembering your password for the next person who logs in.

2) You (really) only have to remember one password – I can remember some of the passwords that I enter on a regular basis. There are, however, some passwords that I don’t remember because it’s rare when I have to enter them. Keeper requires a master password to get access to your account, so that’s the only password that you have to remember. Hot tip; I would HIGHLY recommend that you use a password that you DO NOT use anywhere else for your master password. This will ensure that if a hacker were to break into one of your less secure systems, they wouldn’t have your master password which would allow them to all the rest.

3) It’s equipped with a self-destruct function – If someone were to find your phone and break into it, they would have to get past your master password on Keeper. If they try 6 times to input your password and are incorrect, your whole system self-destructs, and they will not be able to access your passwords from that device. I really like this feature because it means that I know that my passwords are secure.

In this digital age where nearly everything requires a username and a password, it’s really important to have the right tools to keep all your passwords straight. It’s equally important to have a tool to keep your passwords secure. I need to be clear, I’m not an affiliate of Password Keeper, I’m just really happy with the product and with all the various different products that are like it out there, I thought I would throw my hat in the ring and show you why I like this one. It’s available on the Google Play Store for Android or on the Apple App Store for iOS.

Do you feel you have too many passwords? Are there any tools that you use to keep them safe?

    Awesome website you have here but I was curious about if you knew of any forums that cover
    the same topics talked about here? I’d really like to be a part of group where I can get suggestions
