If there is one thing that causes me anxiety with my technology, it’s the thought of my phone’s battery running out of juice. To be clear, it is actually a good thing if, on occasion, you run the battery down to dead—but that’s not what I’m talking about. In this case, what I tend to worry about are the occasions where I’m out and about and using my phone for all kinds of stuff. Seeing that battery percentage wind down causes me all kinds of anxiety.

I know what you’re saying right now. You’re likely saying something along the lines of, “Jason, there’s probably about a billion wireless and portable chargers on the market… go out and buy one, why don’t you?” Yeah, I get that, but here’s the thing: nearly all of the chargers out on the market (and some I have tried) are too big, too clunky, take an age to recharge, and simply don’t work for me. Luckily, I stumbled on one particular charger that I liked, and (as I am prone to do) I would like to geek out about it with you. First things first though;

I had been looking for a good phone charger that I could use on the go that wouldn’t be too cumbersome. In my meanderings around the internet, I found the Beyond Power Charger. If I’m being honest, I forget exactly how I stumbled on this power bank, but in my various wanderings around the internet I come across all kinds of things. I liked how sleek it looked, and it claimed to hold a serious charge. After looking at the price and a couple of reviews, I figured what the heck and ordered one. I have to say, it is one of the best products like it I’ve tried.

1) Slim and sleek

One of the things that really bugs me about some external chargers is that they have the tendency to be as big as my phone. I will freely admit that while I used some of these chargers for a while, I would be at conferences with my phone in one jacket pocket, the charger in the other, and a cord running between the two on the inside of my coat. No one noticed, and at the time I thought it was genius.

After a while though, it started to feel odd—which is why I’m so happy that I found the Beyond Charger. I really like that it’s not bulky and actually doesn’t feel like it adds that much weight to the phone. I now no longer have to worry about how I feel when I have to charge my phone mid conference. Having a random cord come out of your jacket did feel really weird.

2) Really sticks on there

The one thing that I can’t stand is when a product claims to be magnetic and sticks to your phone, but it doesn’t do a very good job of it. What I like about the Beyond charger is that it’s really good about sticking to the phone. Granted, I have an iPhone 17 and a MagSafe case, so it’s easy to have the charger stick to it.

I have had occasion to try other chargers that claimed to have the ability to stick to the phone, but didn’t. I have put this charger on my phone, then put the combo in my pocket, and then used it for everything from text messages to taking photos of stuff—and it never even slips a little.

3) A hell of a good charge

I had the opportunity to do some extensive traveling this year, and the Beyond charger has been an invaluable part of my “wandering around doing touristy stuff” day-to-day gear. I have been wandering around blissfully unaware of what my battery level is at, then realizing it was at like 20% and I would still have half the day left. The Beyond charger made it so that I was able to last the whole day with room to spare. I have actually been able to get a completely full charge with my phone going from 0% to 100%, with the charger’s percentage still at 40%. What I have seen before is where an external battery could do that, but the charger itself would be dead as a doornail. This is a vast improvement.

For those of you who’ve been here for a while, you know that when I talk about a product, it’s because I am a big fan and a user, and this is no exception. I will admit, at the time of this post there are only two colours—grey and orange—but luckily for me, orange is actually my favourite colour. The Beyond Power Bank Charger is simple, effortless, and (in my experience) 100% reliable. I really like mine, and if you are considering a power bank that works really well and isn’t bulky, I would highly advise looking into the Beyond Power Bank.
