Why you need your To-Do list Everywhere

I am, for lack of a better phrase, a bit of a to-do list junkie. For me, having my list acts like a safety blanket. I never have to worry about what I’m doing on a day-to-day basis because it’s all on my list. More importantly, I can add, remove, and edit the items on my list because I always have it with me. I can do this because I tend to have my list with me wherever I go. I appreciate the flexibility of mobility when it comes to my to-do lists, as it means I have access to them no matter where I am.

1) Mobility is life – Everything is about mobility, everything is about portability. It only holds that your to-do list be as mobile as you are. Being able to keep up with your tasks no matter where you are is critical. If given the choice between scratching off a to-do list item right in the moment that it’s done and having to sit down and take time to remember everything I got done in a day, I would frankly like the option to scratch off as I go. Personally, I have the memory of a goldfish when it comes to my tasks, so I rely on my to-do list to not only keep me on task, but also make sure that when I get something done, it gets off my “to be done” list so I don’t worry about whether or not I did it at all later.

2) Ideas occur to me at random times – I don’t know about you, but I get ideas when I’m in random places. Specifically, when I’m commuting to and from work, or when I’m generally just moving around, is when I get my best ideas. The ability to capture those ideas or tasks that need to be done is critical for me. If I don’t have a way to put those tasks or ideas in a list somewhere, then, unfortunately, my brain has a bad habit of forgetting the concept by the time I get to a place where I can actually write it down.

3) It’s just convenient – I don’t know if you’re a to-do list junkie. If you are, you probably have a way of keeping your to-do lists with you, no matter what format you keep them in. If you aren’t, or you’re just getting into to-do lists, I would HIGHLY advise finding a way to make it so that you have your to-do list with you all the time. Personally, and I’ll be discussing this further next week, having my to-do list with me makes it easier to know both what I’m supposed to be doing and, more importantly, what I don’t need to worry about until later. There is a list a mile long of to-do list apps, which makes it much more convenient to keep track of everything you need to get done.

For the longest time, I had a hard time remembering what I needed to get done on a day-to-day basis. I then learned that if I wrote things down, I would have an easier time remembering what I needed to do. The only problem I had back then was that I would write something down, and it would only be in one place. Now, with digital systems, you can access your to-do lists whenever you need them. There is something comforting in knowing that no matter where I am, I know what I need to get done. If something is mentioned that I need to do, my list isn’t too far away, so I can add to it. If you find that you are behind schedule or missing things, I would highly recommend finding a to-do list app that you can keep with you everywhere. It will make managing your life much easier.

Do you use a to-do list everywhere?
