I spent a week traveling a couple of weeks ago and I have to say, I found a portable wireless charger that it really great. One of the problems that I typically have is power. There are quite a few wireless chargers out there of many shapes and sizes, They come in charging pats and in futuristic-looking charging stations, but I have to admit, one, in particular, caught my eye. I first read about it on the Verge when they reviewed it and I have to admit, they were exactly correct. The RAVPower Wireless charger is totally awesome.
1) Portable – It’s great as a portable charging station because if nothing else, the thing it tiny. The cord notwithstanding the charging station itself fits in the palm of my hand. This means that there is literally no way that you would be able to not fit it in any backpack or briefcase. for the longest time (because I have both iPhone and Apple Watch) I figured it would be easier just to pack a whole massive charging station and just suffer through bring it along with me. Now with the RAVPower charger, I just pack that and a small watch charge cord and I’m able to travel with half the weight and size for my chargers than I was before.
“for the inconvenience”
2) Effective – I did a test and from flat dead, it was able to charge my phone to 100% in a couple of hours. This to me does not seem like an unreasonable amount of time. For the most part, when I’m plugging in my phone It’s either my office or next to my bed when I go to sleep. Either way, I know I’m going to be in that particular spot for at least a couple of hours, So being able to have my phone charged in that time is quite nice. Just as a quick comparison I tried charging it on a cable attached to a USB hub, and that was able to charge it an hour and 20 minutes, so while I will admit corded it still good, wireless is good for the convenience factor.
3) Sleek looking – While I realize that being good is much more important than looking good, looking good is still nice. The minimalist looks make it deceptively good. I like that it doesn’t seem to have too many bells or whistles to it. It is relatively compact, and because it’s so small (fits in the palm of my hand) you can take it anywhere. I was carrying it to and from work with relative ease, and I was able to put it in a Though it is small it is mighty.
I will say this, the one drawback of this particular wireless charger is that it NEEDS to be plugged into the wall plug that it comes with (Despite being a USB cord that comes from the wireless charging station) and it will not work with a powered USB hub. This is something I found out when I tried to plug it into my docking station. Also when you do plug it into a wall socket it needs some space to one side and the other of the actual prongs that go into the wall. When I tried to plug it into my nearly full power bar It didn’t have enough room because it was wider than the space allowed.
Wireless charging seems like the obvious thing that is going to be taking over the world in the coming future. I really like the way that you can just put your phone down and you don’t have to fumble with wires and trying to make sure that your phone gets plugged “all the way” in. Like I said, I recently took this particular charger on vacation for a couple of weeks. I was able to buy the RAVPower Wireless charger into the wall, and I was good to go. overall, I would highly recommend picking one of them up.
Do you have a wireless charger? Would you consider getting this one?
