So this week, I’ve been working both professionally and personally on email—specifically, email clients. For those of you who don’t know, an email client is the program you use to access your email from your various devices. Some of you will use Outlook; some use whatever native mail apps come with your devices. Both options are fine, but for me, the email client I prefer to use is Spark. I’m fairly sure I’ve talked about this one before, but I thought while I’m talking about my favourite programs to keep myself efficient, I might as well throw Spark into the mix.
1) Separation of groupings
I don’t know about you, but I get a lot of email. I mean A……LOT…..of email. The daily tsunami of ads, notifications, calendar invites, and everything else that comes in would typically drive me crazy if there was no way to make sure that I could separate the digital wheat from the chaff. Luckily, Spark has me covered. Spark will auto-sort any emails that hit your inbox so there’s a visual representation of what goes where. This, at least for me, is super helpful because it lets me quickly see the difference between the emails I really need to pay attention to and the ones that are just ads for stuff.
2) Multiple emails, one space
Typically, I’m the kind of guy who likes a Digital Church and State system, which for me means that I don’t like a lot of crossover in my personal and professional life. That being said, when it comes to managing emails, using Spark as your overall email client is a great way to manage multiple email addresses. I love that I’ve made it so that when I go to Spark, I can look across my multiple emails, see all my sales-flyer emails in one category, and deal with them all in one spot. No more having to sign into different browser tabs (or apps if you’re on your phone) just to go through the ever-expanding amount of email heading your way. All I do now is open up Spark and I can see my entire (well, almost entire) universe in one spot.
3) Similarity across platforms
Here’s the thing: every app developer has their own style and way of setting up their programs. I don’t know about you, but if you have to use a different app with every device, it can be jarring to go back and forth. I like using Spark because no matter how you’re using it (phone, tablet, or computer), the style, buttons, and functionality are exactly the same. I like going into my email knowing exactly what I’m going to find.
More and more, app compatibility between devices is more and more on trend. People are tired of having to learn new functions depending on how you access your data. Email is the same. Day-by-day we have so much to deal with; trying to figure out how each email client works is simply not worth it. Being able to have one client that works the exact same across platforms is something that we all should have. If you are looking for a singular way to access your email, check out Spark.
