Look, I’m a super fan of reMarkable. We all know this. I love the fact that reMarkable has been my notebook of choice for years, and I will continue to use it as long as it remains available to me. A couple of days ago, I was talking with a coworker about it, and I went to the site to show them some stuff, and there was an ominous “Something’s coming soon” message, which, for whatever reason, didn’t seem to register in my brain that something BIG was coming. Last Tuesday, I was scrolling through my news feed and found a couple of articles about reMarkable’s newest product. When I went to the site, it confirmed that they had indeed launched a smaller version of their tablet. I want to think that I had a reserved, professional, even adult-like reaction. Sadly, what actually happened was closer to this;
Now I recognize that I’m a grown-up human being and stuff, but when something cool like this comes out, I do tend to revert to a 14-year-old boy—particularly one who has been handed $100.00 and let loose in a candy store. I have been saying for years that reMarkable should have a handheld version of their tablets.
The Handheld version should be awesome – There have been MANY times when I’ve been on the go and I’ve had a great thought that’s crossed my mind. The problem is that because I don’t have a place to write it down, when I get somewhere where I can do that, the thought is usually lost. While the reMarkable Paper Pro isn’t bulky per se, it is a bit too big to carry around all the time. Having a notepad on my person that I can stick in my jacket pocket will be a great asset for me, as it will not bog me down with too much stuff to carry.
Retire the briefcase – I carried a briefcase for a while (Being an adult businessperson) and then stopped because I was able to access everything from both my work and home. My major holdout was bringing my reMarkable to and from work. With reMarkable having a miniature version, I can now have access to all my notes when I’m on the train to and from work, or even when I’m walking around (which is typically when I get my best ideas anyway). Having all the ideas you could have in your pocket is a great way to make sure you capture any idea you may have while you’re on the run.
Slight concern about scaling – So I will admit I have a couple of concerns about this new-sized version. My first one is due to scaling. What I mean is that I was using the reMarkable 2 and the Paper Pro at the same time, but because the screen sizes were slightly different, the notes I could fully see on my Paper Pro I would have to scroll for on the 2. I am very curious to see if the scaling issue occurs with the Paper Pro move. If they are able to scale the notes to fit the smaller screen, will they appear small once synced with the larger devices? I’m unsure. The other concern is that the folio they are offering is the same, but a smaller version of the larger folios, which open to the side. If I were designing it, I might have designed the folios to flip over the top, much like servers use their notepads in restaurants.
reMarkable is one of the few companies where I am completely unable to help myself when something new comes out. I love a good quality product, and when I find something that really works well, I go all in. ReMarkable is a company that I have definitely gone all in for. In my opinion, they make such a high-quality product that it’s worth the money. If you haven’t looked at reMarkable, I would highly recommend it for you.
And if you’re asking yourself if I’ve purchased the Pro Move for myself…..

Oh, and also, there is an Apple Event today, and I will be talking about that next week. Check it out if you are an Apple fan like me.
Would you like a remarkable that you can take on the go?
